How a ‘Point & Shoot’ film camera saved my love of photography.

After years of full-time photography, the idea of lugging my DSLR on a plane when I didn't have to sounded terrible. Especially when packing light for small European planes. In 2021, a few friends and I decided to fit everything we brought in a personal item, each carrying a small backpack to Sardinia and the South of France for two weeks.

I had found a Fujifilm Klasse W on eBay and decided that would be my camera of choice. The Klasse is a "high end" point and shoot. Although there are no manual controls, I just wanted something I didn't have to think about. It was just what I needed to not feel like I was "working" on my vacation.

The Klasse has ended up being a staple for my travels and personal adventures. I wish it was a little more durable (RIP my first model in Hawaii in 2022, a very expensive mistake) but besides its sensitivity to salt water, it checks every box!
